    Integrated metrology

    For inline measurements at production speed

    Manufacturing and inspection processes become increasingly automated. For the high standards of product quality and process safety to still be maintained as human involvement is reduced demands fast, high-accuracy and flexible inline measurement systems.

    The fiber-optic measuring systems from fionec feature:

    • Interfaces (serial and LAN)
      For simple integration into existing processes and machines. Industry 4.0 compatibility.

    • Miniaturized probes
      Their compact design allows for straightforward integration into existing measuring and inspection devices. They can also be retrofitted to UP machine tools.

    • Modular design and connections using fiber-optic cables
      Data communication over optical fibers is fast and flexible. The cables can be almost any length. This means that the probe and evaluation unit can be located at almost any distance from one another.

    The integrated measuring solutions from fionec transform manufacturing and inspection processes into a coordinated system. Critical quality data are generated quickly, with high accuracy and in a non-destructive manner. If required, the data can be immediately fed back into the processes to trigger corrective measures as necessary (closed-loop manufacturing).

    FDM Series

    The high-accuracy measuring technology of the FDM Series allow for a great deal of design flexibility. Its fiber-optic probe and evaluation unit can also be installed separately from one another, if required. The technology can be easily integrated into coordinate-measuring machines or existing production lines.

    Our roughness measuring station RMP is optimized for performing high-accuracy roughness and surface measurements of precision turned parts. The miniature probe can be precisely introduced by the control mechanism either laterally or vertically.

    The advantages

    • Maximum accuracy

      The sensor uses the interference principle to deliver absolute values with nanometer precision. Even in the event that a measuring process is interrupted, e.g. due to shading of the measuring beam or surface defects, the measured value is not lost. The typical standard deviation is in the low nanometer range. All results are reproducible.

    • Absolutely contactless

      Contactless optical inspection techniques, such as white light interferometry, are ideal for performing high-accuracy measurements of microstructures. In contrast with tactile measuring devices, fiber-optic sensors from fionec do not affect or damage the surface of the test items. This makes it possible to perform reproducible roughness measurements even on delicate materials, such as lenses, wafers and optical flats.

    • Short inspection cycles

      With a measuring frequency of up to 20 kHz, the FDM Series fiber-optic measuring systems work significantly faster than comparable tactile devices. This means that measurements can be performed in shorter cycles or with higher measuring point densities. Non-productive times are significantly reduced.

    • Fully integrable

      The measuring systems can be easily integrated into existing processes via hardware and software interfaces. Manufacturing and inspection processes are brought closer together, and the rapid feedback of test results into the production operation assist in continuously optimizing processes.
